This week we doved deep into pricing strategies, gathered insights from peers, and continued refining the Drive Wizard feature set. Customer conversations and community outreach remain core to KONVOY's growth.
Current KPIs
Our waitlist is growing steadily, reflecting ongoing interest in KONVOY:
- Waitlist signups: 16 🚗 (up 3 from last week)
It’s encouraging to see this consistent growth as we refine our product and messaging. The additional signups reflect the importance of engaging with the community and continuing to improve our value proposition. Each new signup is a step closer to building a strong foundation for KONVOY’s launch, and these consistent increases are fueling my optimism about the app’s potential.
Talking to Customers
This week, I had some impactful conversations with Chris, Jason, and the attendees of the Flutter Atlanta Meetup. Here are some key takeaways:
- Pricing Strategy: Discussions with Chris and Jason focused on potential pricing models for KONVOY. Chris emphasized the importance of an always-free option, which has prompted me to explore ad-supported features like shared navigation. While real-time communication won’t be viable under an ad-supported model, the free tier can help broaden our user base. This feedback has motivated me to create detailed plans for both the free and premium tiers, ensuring each has clear, distinct value for users.
- Premium Pricing: A subscription model priced at $4.99/month or $39.99/year was well-received by Jason, who also suggested additional premium features such as customized map avatars. Bulk licenses for car clubs emerged as another intriguing idea, offering clubs discounted rates while expanding our reach within organized communities. These licenses could help bridge gaps in membership value for clubs while also establishing KONVOY as a trusted partner in the car enthusiast space. Monitoring usage metrics will be critical to ensure profitability while offering such discounts.
- Community Feedback: Presenting at Flutter Atlanta helped me articulate KONVOY’s value proposition and technical challenges to a broader audience. While not our target demographic, their support and feedback were invaluable for improving how I communicate the vision. Practicing this pitch has been a confidence booster, helping me refine my approach for future presentations to potential customers or investors.
These interactions underscore the importance of continuous learning from both direct conversations and broader community feedback. Every discussion brings me closer to understanding what KONVOY needs to thrive in its niche market.
What’s Been Done & What’s Next
✅ Recently Completed:
Progress continues on the Drive Wizard:
- Drive Management: Organize and display active drives for users, providing a central hub for group coordination. This feature streamlines trip organization, ensuring users have easy access to all their drive details in one place.
- Drive Preview: A detailed overview of planned drives, ensuring clarity before hitting the road. With this feature, users can confidently plan their trips, reducing last-minute confusion and making group travel more efficient.
🚧 In Progress:
We’re wrapping up the Invites and Participation system, the final piece of the Drive Wizard. This feature will:
- Allow users to invite others to drives, fostering collaboration and group coordination.
- Manage responses and participation in a seamless way, ensuring everyone stays informed and connected.
Next up, we’ll focus on the Voice Chat UI, a critical component for real-time communication during group drives. This feature will enable users to stay connected throughout their journey, enhancing both safety and the social aspect of traveling together.
These developments mark significant progress in bringing KONVOY closer to a full-featured app. As we refine these features, we’re also identifying additional ways to improve the user experience, making each iteration better than the last.
How We’re Feeling
Momentum is building, both in terms of product development and customer engagement. Conversations with Chris and Jason have bolstered confidence in our pricing model and revealed exciting opportunities like bulk licensing. Meanwhile, community outreach is sharpening our ability to pitch KONVOY effectively.
Development slowed slightly this week due to competing priorities, but with the holidays approaching, I’m optimistic about having more dedicated time to focus on wrapping up core features. This extra time will allow me to not only complete existing tasks but also revisit previous implementations to ensure everything is polished and ready for launch. Each challenge presents a new learning opportunity, reinforcing the belief that KONVOY is on the right track.
